Hello, I’m Kay. I graduated magna cum laude from the University of California, Irvine (UCI) where I received my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in violin performance.

I was awarded full scholarships in both undergraduate and graduate schools.

Since graduating, I performed with Pacific Symphony as a regular substitute memer for 13 years in addition to playing other professional orchestras in the area.

As an active chamber musician, I regularly performed in in recitals as a violin piano duo in the US for 10 years, as well as other forms, including violin alone.

My principal teacher is Mr. Haroutune Bedelian who was the former professor in the Royal Academy of Music in London, and the UCI.

I’ve been teaching for 25 years and enjoy working with students all levels and ages. My students have been placed at many competitions as well as being accepted by numerous high reputation youth orchestras in the US.

My students have been accepted by Yale, Princeton, UC Berkeley, Carnegie Mellon, Korea National University of Art and so on. My teaching gave them opportunities to learn not only the joy of playing and improving the violin, but also self descipline, time management, planning skills, and stress management in order to achieve their personal goals.

I’m a member of ASTA (American String Teachers Association) and all my students passed ASTA-CAP (violin exams / level tests) every year for 10 years. I have experience of being a judge as well.

I’m going back and forth between Japan and the US (10 months in JP/ 2 months in the US), due to my family demand, teaching US students online/in-person.

I may be able to come to your home if you are in the metropolitan area in Tokyo. I know many students are busy with their academic demands and other activities.

Online lessons are also available via Skype (preferred) and Zoom (30min. only).
